Another Pinetop Weekend

If you read my mother-in-law's blog, Daniel Doings, you'll have already ready her latest blog post about our this past weekend in Pinetop with the David and Lawanna Daniel Family. Check it out if you haven't yet, she posted some great photos (some really cute ones of my little dude, but I digress).



Anywho...We had a wonderful time relaxing on Sunday after all that hard work the men put in over in Snowflake at the other grandparents' house. After a lazy morning in jammies, a few of us played a great game of Phase 10 (Ashley won even though her boyfriend, Nick, is a cheater-cheater-pumpkin-eater...just kidding, Nick, we love you!) And then a short round of Uno while we at chili beans and cornbread. After a last minute walk through the gorgeous meadow it was time to come home. Here are some photos of the beautiful meadow lots across from the cabin and a few of us goofing off, as well.

It's impossible to get a good picture of Carter smiling if the flash goes off on my camera, so I turned the flash off. But the little orange focus light still shines and this is what my little dude does when he sees that little orange light. What a cheeseball!

And the grammy goes to...

No, not those Grammies, Carter's grammies. You know, Grammy Lisa and Grammy Lawanna? Carter sure does love his grammies and here are some pictures to prove it. He sure is a lucky little dude to have grandmas that love him so much.

Hallway Safari

My little crawler decided last night was a good time to explore the house on his terms. We usually just carry him from room to room when we need to keep an eye on him. But this time he ventured down the hall all on his own and was looking in all the rooms before deciding he wanted to mountain climb on a pile of quilts. Adorable!

Why won't he stay tiny?

Just another piece of proof that my baby won't be a baby for long. I peeked over the half wall while doing the dishes to see someone exploring the front of the television. I guess it won't be long until he knows more about electronics than I do. And I'm sure walking is just around the corner since he's standing and holding on with only one hand so the other is free to play and look around. I just want to keep him my little guy for longer. He wasn't ever very little to begin with.

Good Morning, San Diego!

It's Friday morning and our last full day in San Diego. We had a fun time at the beach yesterday and we got to meet up with some of our California family, the Bennings.

Leland met up with Dave and Laura for some scuba and the rest of us met up with Kelly for some lounging. They were awesome and brought beach umbrellas and the like for us to borrow. You know, us desert dwellers don't have those kinds of things. Kelly and I reminisced about the summers we would spend with our families together at Zuma beach eating picnic lunches and hanging out (and then heading back to the Benning pool to swim and wash off the grime).

Carter had such a great time his first time at the beach playing in the sand and little waves that would come up. I will post those pictures when we get home.
